Peppers History

As a small boy growing up on Karon Beach in Phuket, Thailand, a young Hector Crobel, (the culinary whiz responsible for the menu you are now holding), worked day and night in the kitchen of his Uncle and Aunt Badinton and Anurak Kavinan, picking up bits and pieces of knowledge helping the Kavinans prep their authentic Thai menu and not because he had to, but because he loved to.

For Hector, Thai food was simply food, and preparing it was as second nature to him as shifting gears is to a long haul trucker. It was on an overnight trip to visit his cousin Achara in the beach town of Bang Tao where he had his first experience of nightlife, even if only from afar. The glimmering lights, a live band entertaining the many beautiful patrons on the patio, as he and Achara looked on mezmerized, not quite realizing what a defining moment this would be in Hector’s life.

The name of that place was Peppers and it was forever etched in the young boys mind. We hope this Western incarnation of Peppers on the waterfront in Saint John might move you in some small way, the way it did the children all those years ago, maybe it will even change you a little. We hope you enjoy your surroundings as well as Hector’s inspired take on traditional pub food, and as they say in Thailand “Chon Gow!”....
